These are select projects I've worked on with the production team at ASUCD Aggie Studios during my time as a Motion Graphics Animator as well as after my promotion to a Lead role.
I created motion graphics for videos which marketed ASUCD student services and showcased life in the Davis community on multiple social media platforms.
I strengthened ASUCD's and Aggie Studios' branding identities, using vibrant colors and a simple cartoon style for a fun and clean aesthetic, and increased video content engagement to thousands of viewers.
Housing Week Promo (2023)
Role: Animator, Illustrator
ASUCD holds Housing Week as a yearly event to help students gain access to resources on all things housing, and this is one of the videos we created to promote the 2023 event.
I created the title card (0:06) and end card (1:32) animations, the arrow animations for the events hosted each day, and the fruit and succulent plant animations. We made use of colorful graphics combined with the apartment makeover footage to represent the theme of turning "Houses to Homes".
Housing Week Promo (2022)
Role: Animator, Illustrator, Storyboard Artist
For our annual Housing Week promotional video in 2022, our team collaborated on a fully animated short. We focused on building a nostalgic, cozy aesthetic to sell the slogan of "Making Davis Home".
I illustrated and animated the graphics from 0:00-0:29 and helped create the jittery effect we used to simulate a traditional stop-motion animation. In the storyboard phase, I outlined the video's flow and key animations to go along with each topic.
The UC Davis Bucket List (2022)
Role: Animator, Illustrator
This video helped promote many of the locations and common experiences that are all too familiar to Davis students in a light and humorous way, and introduced new and potential students to key traditions that give the college town its unique personality.
I illustrated and animated the intro for this video, making sure to sprinkle in common elements that bring to mind UC Davis such as the water tower, squirrels, cows, and bikes. I also created the small animations used for comedic effect in the video.
Davis Boba Run (2022)
Role: Animator, Illustrator
This video features two of our studio's reporters rating various drinks from boba shops in Davis. It advertises the city as full of social spaces for students where they can find friends and interestingly flavored drinks.
I created the title card animations, star rating sidebar animations, and the travel map animations (note: I used recolored images from Google Maps for the travel map background).
Below are two tutorials I created to teach animator trainees at Aggie Studios the branding style of the studio and the tools they would be using in their work. The videos assume a general beginner level of competency in the Adobe Illustrator and After Effects programs, and can be used as learning material by anyone who is interested in learning how to create a simple vector illustration and a looping motion graphics animation.
